This scope of this type of report is to gather information directly from the child. This information may include: the child’s views and preferences, the child’s worries and concerns, and/or the child’s experiences and ideas.
The Views of the Child Report is limited in nature and does not provide a thorough assessment of the child’s needs and best interests. The assessor will not provide any findings or make any recommendations. The purpose is to provide a report on what the child discloses to the assessor during interviews.
The court and/or the parents will give direction on the scope and nature of the report. This includes providing the assessor with specific questions that need to be answered. A Views of the Child Report can be initiated by way of court order or by consent of both parents.
